Happiness is dependent on circumstances but JOY is accessible no matter what!
All of us are chasing happy in some form every day. We chase happy in our relationships, in the hunt for success, and through the next adventure. For all of our chasing, we only discover a dryness, an emptiness, a void that hardens our souls rather than filling them.
Ultimately we’re chasing the wrong kind of happy. We chase physical, emotional, and temporary happiness instead of spiritual, eternal happiness found in Jesus. The problem is that we’re chasing happy in the wrong things. Looking for it in all the wrong places. Happiness is ours when we chase God’s joy, His purpose, His unity, His contentment, and His peace. Happy is captured when we chase Him.
Philippians is the Joy book of the Bible. But it is a joy, a happiness, that can clearly only be found in Jesus. Happy isn’t found in the circumstances around us, but in the power of Jesus in us.
